About Us

Cocoa Provisions is dedicated to source fine organic and fair-trade “Arriba Nacional” cocoa beans directly from the farmers in Ecuador in small batches. We contribute to the conservation of “Arriba Nacional” cocoa, also known as “Pepa de Oro”, internationally recognized because of its high quality.

We partner directly with the cocoa farmers to strengthen our respect for their values by engaging in fair-trade practices and supporting sustainable agriculture. Cocoa Provisions supports the development of these communities and the land where they come from to help them continue to lead dignified lives.

Our relationship with the farmers ensures that we deliver a high quality product to our customers, guaranteeing direct trade and connection with the land and community of origin by promoting an atmosphere of harmony and equality.

Ecuador, the land of cocoa, produces cocoa in different regions, each one with its own characteristics. We work with individual regions and crops to select our beans very carefully in order to capture the purity, aroma and taste of each area.

By choosing cocoa provisions you are supporting the Fair and Direct Trade, contributing sustainable agriculture and the conservation of the fine and aroma “Arriba National” Cocoa that represents the unique chocolate flavor of Ecuador.

Jenny Samaniego, Founder

Cocoa Provisions starts with Jenny. She grew up in Ecuador and spent years working for renowned international hotels there after earning her degree in hospitality. Her love for the chocolate industry took shape while working 5 years for Vintage Plantations Chocolate in New Jersey, where she began sourcing cacao directly from the farmers, making chocolate, supervising production and importing. She later became the marketing and sales administrative manager. Jenny spent another year developing client relationships and managing sales for Pacari Chocolates in New York City. She then connected with Grocer’s Daughter Chocolates from Empire-Michigan, were they lead cocoa tours to Ecuador. All this, along with her accounting and financial experience, inspired her to start her own company – Cocoa Provisions.

The Farmers

Generations of hard work allow them to find the best ways to treat every cocoa bean. The unique combination of temperature, latitude, and the Ecuadorian land help their beans develop unique aromas and flavors. These rich traditions have continually been passed down so that exceptional quality is passed on to you.
