Development Of Cocoa And Chocolates In The Country Of Ecuador

The Coast is the region that has the largest area of harvested cocoa, in which 81% was registered during the year 2009. The provinces that have the most harvested cocoa per area are: Manabí, Los Ríos, Guayas, Esmeraldas and El Oro. Since there is a variety of microclimate, cocoa can also be grown in Bolívar, Pichincha and Cotopaxi. It can also be found interesting coca profiles in the provinces that are situated in the region of the amazons like Napo, Sucumbíos, Orellana and Zamora. There are different flavors and aromas of cocoa in Ecuador due to the different characteristics of the land and the hydration of different types of cocoa.
